My name is Richard and I’m a fully qualified Secondary School English Teacher, with over 10 years’ experience. I can teach English across all Examinations Boards from age 11 to 19. This includes Key Stage 3, GCSE and A Level Language and Literature.

I enjoy teaching all types of students and I have particular empathy with those who find English difficult. I teach in a very structured way, ensuring the students attain the skills and knowledge required to achieve their full potential.

I initially trained in London and then moved to Wiltshire to complete my training. I was subsequently employed for five years by a high-achieving school in Wiltshire, which was twice rated ‘Outstanding’ by OFSTED during my tenure. I was also personally rated ‘Outstanding’ during these inspections. During my time at this school, I was trained, mentored and employed by the current holder of The National Teaching Awards ‘UK Secondary School Teacher of the Year’, Simon Gunstone. We remain friends and he is one of my personal referees. From this school, I moved on promotion to become Head of English for three years at a Special Needs School in Wiltshire. From there we moved to Spain where I taught in private independent schools for two years. Since then I have been working for My Education Online and am thoroughly enjoying my role as an online tutor.

I am married and have one daughter and a dog called Teddy. We live on the Costa Blanca, Spain. My interests include playing guitar, reading and learning Spanish.
